Supported behavior and limits
Confirm the current Tally Connect workflow boundaries before production use.
Supported core workflows
- Fully paid Shopify orders → verified Tally Sales Vouchers
- Shopify refund webhooks → verified Tally Credit Notes
- Shopify delivery name, address, PIN code, phone, and shipping method → verified Tally voucher delivery fields (Windows connector 0.5.1+)
- Verified INR GST posting for taxable goods using exclusive IGST or CGST+SGST/UTGST allocations (Windows connector 0.5.0+)
- Reviewed Shopify variant → Tally Stock Item creation or alteration
- Reviewed Tally Stock Item → draft Shopify product or mapped update
- Manual, verified Shopify variant ↔ Tally Stock Item mappings
- Single-godown, conflict-safe inventory reconciliation
- Reviewed Tally Physical Stock adjustments
- Compare-and-set Tally-to-Shopify inventory updates
Product limits
- New Tally items create draft Shopify products with one tracked variant.
- Tally Connect does not automatically publish or reactivate Shopify products.
- Bundles, kits, alternate-unit conversions, price lists, batches, expiry dates, and serial numbers remain blocked.
- Barcode, description, price, images, and category cannot currently be owned by Tally for automatic Shopify updates.
- Unit conversions must result in whole destination quantities.
GST voucher limits
Before a tax-bearing voucher is imported, the connector verifies the exact mapped Tally masters: tax-ledger duty heads, Sales/Returns ledger GST settings, the Stock Item's direct date-effective HSN and value-based GST rates, and reverse-charge status. After import, the same HSN, assessable value, rate split, Stock Item, godown, quantities, and accounting allocations must be read back from Tally or the write is marked reconciliation-required.
The initial live scope is INR taxable goods with one non-slab rate per line and either IGST or CGST+SGST/UTGST. Cess, foreign-currency GST, exempt/non-GST lines mixed into a taxable voucher, inherited-only rates, slab/MRP/quantity-based rates, and tax-bearing accounting-only Credit Notes remain blocked for manual review.
Inventory limits
Automatic inventory requires exactly one confirmed Shopify location mapped to the one godown proven by the latest successful master discovery. Multi-godown automatic inventory is not supported because the current closing-balance read is aggregate.
TallyPrime compatibility
Production enablement is release-tested against representative TallyPrime 3.x, 5.x/6.x, and 7.x families using disposable companies. Exact supported releases depend on completed protocol proof for company discovery, masters, GST vouchers, refunds, Physical Stock, idempotent replay, and company mismatch protection.
Code tests are not Tally certification
Automated mock and smoke tests prove deterministic connector behavior, but they do not certify a TallyPrime release, multi-godown reads, or production catalog load.
Platform requirements
- Node or development tools are not required for merchants.
- The production Agent supports Windows 10 and Windows 11.
- TallyPrime must be available to the same signed-in Windows user.
- The local XML endpoint must be
127.0.0.1:9000; it must not be internet-exposed.
