Stock changes with a shared starting point

Shopify and TallyPrime inventory sync with conflict protection

Establish verified baselines, recognize connector echoes, protect Shopify writes with comparison guards, and pause when both systems change at once.

Identity before quantity

Know the exact product, unit, and location

A stock number is meaningful only when both systems agree about what and where it represents. Tally Connect requires a confirmed variant-to-Stock-Item mapping, whole-unit conversion, and a supported location-to-godown mapping before baseline approval.

The current Tally closing balance evidence is aggregate. Automatic inventory therefore stays limited to a proven single-godown setup instead of implying unsupported multi-location precision.

  • Confirmed product and location mappings.
  • Approved unit ratio in both directions.
  • Company and master-discovery evidence still current.
  • Exactly one supported inventory destination for automation.
02

Checkpoint logic

Measure change from the last state both systems shared

The baseline records the approved Shopify physical quantity and Tally closing quantity. Later observations compare each side with that checkpoint rather than copying whichever number arrived last.

Tracked reservations help normalize Shopify availability when eligible paid orders have not yet been posted into TallyPrime.

  • No change means no write.
  • A one-sided change can move through the configured direction.
  • A connector echo is recognized instead of bounced back.
  • A two-sided change becomes a visible conflict.
03

Recovery and control

Resolve conflicts without discarding real work

When Shopify and TallyPrime both change after the checkpoint, Tally Connect pauses that pair. The merchant chooses the Tally value, Shopify value, or a reviewed custom whole quantity.

Resolution finishes only after fresh observations prove the chosen value. Critical mapping or company changes invalidate prior readiness and pause dependent automation.

  • Shopify compare-and-set guard before destination updates.
  • Fenced snapshots prevent stale work from becoming executable later.
  • Fresh baseline after a resolved conflict.
  • Explicit paused, one-way, and two-way operating modes.

Before go-live

Tests worth running with your real workflow.

A connector should be evaluated by its difficult cases, not by whether one ideal record moved successfully.

  1. 01

Count a small set of easy-to-verify products in both systems.

  2. 02

Approve baselines only when identities, units, locations, and quantities agree.

  3. 03

    Test Shopify-only, Tally-only, unchanged, and connector-echo cases.

  4. 04

Create a simultaneous change and confirm the pair pauses as a conflict.

  5. 05

Change a critical mapping and confirm old readiness cannot authorize new work.

Practical questions

What teams ask before enabling this workflow.

Inventory documentation
Is two-way inventory available?+

The workflow supports guarded one-way and two-way modes after verified readiness. Each product/location pair needs an approved baseline first.

Does automatic inventory support multiple Tally godowns?+

Not in the current proven path. Automatic inventory requires the supported single-godown configuration because the current Tally closing-balance read is aggregate.

What if both quantities change?+

The pair becomes a conflict. The merchant chooses a source of truth, and fresh evidence establishes a new checkpoint.
